After 3 years of conversion to Organic Farming, we are now certified ORGANIC.
Category: Chronology
1980
After a Parisian youth, Pascal Avril decides to settle in Marçay, the birthplace of these ancestors. Holder of a sheep breeder’s diploma, he becomes an expert consultant for breeders in the region. During this same period, his uncle then winemaker at Marçay, transmits his love of the vineyard.
1985
Pascal decides to leave the sheep and takes again the Vineyard of 3ha of his uncle André.
1992
The Domaine de Touraine has expanded and now has 16 ha of vines in AOC Chinon and AOC Touraine. The Chai is finally installed at a place called Touraine above the town of Marçay, in Ligré.
1995
Definitive abandonment of insecticides and herbicides. Pascal understands that we must not fight pests and diseases but rather promote biodiversity to limit attacks. The observation will quickly show an increase in the fauna and flora accompanied by a decrease in vine pests and diseases.
2006
The estate decides to devote itself to the 3 best terroirs and abandons the most remote parcels of Touraine. The surface of vines is now 11ha.
2013
After three years of traveling between Asia and Latin America, Mathieu, Pascal’s son, integrates the Domaine and instills a new dynamic. The following year, he acquired a degree in Agricultural Exploitation Manager and opened new perspectives at the Domaine de Touraine with the work on horseback, gardening in the vineyards, the use of algae, minerals, nettle manure , orange bark extracts, finally, participation in the Agricultural Observatory of Biodiversity.
2017
The estate goes into Organic Conversion, the logical outcome of Pascal and Mathieu’s approach: the balance of the wines is first and foremost in the balance of the vine.
