Old vines.

In the vineyard :

Soil : limestone-clay soil.

Localisation : on the hillside above the royal fortress of Chinon.

Grape variety : Cabernet franc.

Age of vines : 75 years old.

In the cellar :

Winemaking method : fermentation in concrete tanks with light pumping over twice a day for 2 weeks then once a day for one more week.

Wine maturation : 12 months in concrete tanks at 13°C then bottle storage in tuffeau cave for 6 months.

Suggestion :

Color : Flamboyant, blackcurrant red.

Nose : Ripe red fruits with aromatic notes of prune.

Mouth : Very attractive weight of ripe black-fruits with hints of undergrowth. The tannins are crisp and chewy, with a well-balanced finish on the ripe red fruit flavors. The wine’s fullness and complexity is typical of the year and the age of the vine.

Suggestion : Decant the wine, or open the bottle 2/3 hours before serving, at 16°C.

Aging potential : 10 years and more
